To borrow a few lines from Cole Porter’s 1953 hit, I love Paris “every moment of the year,” but I’m especially fond of it “in the winter when it drizzles.” You simply can’t go wrong when you combine the coziest of the four seasons with one of the most romantic cities in the world. We envision a thoughtfully planned elopement followed by an extended honeymoon, one spent strolling the streets beneath a shared umbrella, slowly soaking up the city of love’s innumerable enchantments—sans massive hordes of tourists. Some of Paris’ many delights can only be enjoyed in the winter, such as sipping vin chaud—hot wine—in a tucked-away café, admiring the dazzling Christmas lights of the tree-lined Champs-Elysées, or ice skating inside the Eiffel Tower!
