Marvelously captured by Alison Mish Photography, today’s lovely fall affair has all the earmarks of a classically beautiful wedding: timelessness, elegant simplicity, and—of course—true love. Every detail is downright pretty, from the ruffled pink pumps worn by the bride, Jill, to the silvery gray color palette. “I love basic colors,” Jill said, “and I couldn’t imagine anything except the simple fall colors of stone, ivory, and champagne.”
For the ceremony location, Jill’s longtime church, where she had imagined herself getting married since she was a little girl, was a natural choice. She and Dan unanimously arrived at a decision for their reception venue—the Scottish Rite Cathedral, a historic Masonic building, constructed in the neoclassical style, that overlooks the city of New Castle. Everything inside the stately pillared building is vintage, from a 1926 Moeller organ to the grand staircase in the foyer. “The uniqueness of the cathedral awed us,” Jill recalled.
From the Bride, Jill
I always wanted to have a fall wedding, so when Dan and I got engaged in 2011 as the leaves were on the turn, we decided the same time of year would be perfect for our wedding. We chose to get married a week before the one-year anniversary of our engagement. I love basic colors, and I couldn’t imagine anything except the simple fall colors of stone, ivory, and champagne. We got married at the church I grew up attending and had imagined myself getting married in since I was a little girl. On our way to the reception, we stopped and took pictures at a beautiful park, Moraine State Park, where Dan and I have spent time bike riding and fishing together. Our reception venue was the Scottish Rite Cathedral. The uniqueness of the Neo-Gothic cathedral awed us, and we loved its large windows.
We undertook many DIY projects, such as creating our own centerpieces and seating chart. We decided to have a photo booth to capture all the crazy personalities of our guests. We even broke out some Zumba dancing at the reception, as it is a favorite of my friends! Our gift to our guests was our favorite popcorn.
